about

Hey. Pssst. Heard of what's going on in Atlanta? It's bursting at the seams with exceptionally talented bands at a rate that hasn't been seen since the earliest part of this millennium. DiCaprio, Nag and Death Stuff are part of a much larger movement in the Atlanta music scene which is insanely prolific, remarkably diverse and incredibly talented.

And guess what? All three bands are releasing their own individual singles on May 11 at 529 in Atlanta. At the same time.

For the uninitiated:

DiCaprio reside in a corner of atonal guitar dirge that would make X (the Australian one, not the LA one) proud. They recently self-released their first full length on Irrelevant Recordings. Obviously, it's great.

Nag (pronounced NOG) have quickly become the dense scree at the forefront of the Atlanta hardcore scene. A single on Total Punk outta Florida came out just last month.

And what can one say about Death Stuff that hasn't been said already? Bleak, yet catchy. Melodic, yet harsh. Pick up their new cassette on Monofonus Press. You'll see what we're talkin' about.

So the gimmick?

Anybody familiar with Chunklet knows that we don't like to do anything terribly conventional, and this further affirms it. This show has three of Atlanta's newer bands releasing singles all at the same time, on the same night, at the same venue. The premise is simple: whichever band sells out of their single first gets a proper seven-inch record pressed!

All three singles are individually cut by Third Uncle Records out of Indiana, and will be sold the second doors open. Whoever sells out first wins, but regardless, everybody wins because all three bands have yet another document of their talent preserved on seven-inch vinyl.

For those that are cheap and/or lazy, a cassette collecting all three singles is also being sold.
